About
West Coast Hoops Academy is a proposed youth basketball training service for Greater Victoria. Its purpose is to help athletes grow as players in an environment that combines skill development with confidence, inclusion, accountability, and enjoyment. Players should be challenged to improve while still feeling comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying again.
Founder and coach Charlotte Westhaver played three seasons with the Okanagan College women’s basketball team from 2021 to 2024, including the program’s 2022 PACWEST championship season. Her coaching experience includes Junior Coyotes, Claremont Secondary School, and a local Indigenous youth program. That experience informs a practical approach: demonstrate the skill, explain why it matters, give athletes time to practice, and offer feedback they can use in the next repetition.
